// the problem

Jeromos Egyesület has run a dog rescue and adoption operation out of Baja, Hungary since 2007, but had no way to show available dogs online or help adopters find the right match — everything ran on word of mouth and manual back-and-forth.

// the approach

The organization needed something they could run themselves: no developer on call every time a dog is adopted or a new one arrives. That meant content the team could manage directly, and a matching flow simple enough for an adopter to self-serve.

// the solution

A public, always-current listing of dogs available for adoption, with an adopter-matching tool that narrows the list by the adopter's living situation and experience — so people land on dogs that actually fit their life before they ever make contact.

// the system

A Next.js and TypeScript front end on Vercel, backed by a Neon Postgres database holding each dog's record, and Vercel Blob for photo storage. Each dog supports a multi-photo gallery with its own lightbox, and the organization edits listings directly — no developer in the loop for day-to-day updates.

The organization now has a public, always-current adoption listing and a self-serve way for adopters to find a match, reducing the manual back-and-forth of matching dogs to homes.
